In addition to Sunday worship, Woodlawn CRC offers many opportunities for fellowship, learning and service, for its members and friends. If you want to get involved, please consider one of the following:
Dine with Nine is a series of fellowship-oriented groups designed to build relationships within the church. Participants are divided into groups of nine by the Fellowship Committee as a way to insure that both couples and singles are included. Gatherings take place in homes or restaurants, either monthly or bimonthly, and can meet for breakfast, lunch, or dinner – whatever the group decides. Feel free to participate even if you do not have the facilities in your home to accommodate nine people. Groups commit to staying together for one year, so that in the span of a single year members will build and deepen relationships with seven or eight other members of the congregation. These groups are ideal not only for members, but also for associate members, or for people who are contemplating church membership.
Slow-Pitch Team: The men’s slow-pitch softball team at Woodlawn is a team for all ages (16 and over). If you enjoy good-hearted competition, consider joining. Games are scheduled from May to August, usually on Wednesday evenings, and we have a great time together.
Stitchers and Friends: The stitch group meets regularly on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Ministry Center to do hand crafts together. Actually, rumor has it that some of the members get so busy talking that they don’t accomplish much “stitching” but just enjoy an evening with friends.
Thursday Morning Book Club meets at the home of a church member one Thursday of most months from September through May, at 10:00 a.m. This informal book discussion group is open to anyone.
Sunday Evening Book Club meets in the Ministry Center on Sunday evening at 7:30 approximately every 6-8 weeks to discuss its most recent selection. This group is always open to new members.
