Woodlawn CRC Identity Statement
We, at Woodlawn Christian Reformed Church, are pilgrims of faith journeying toward, and working for, the new creation.
We gather weekly in our Tent of Meeting, the Calvin College Chapel, to praise and worship the Triune God with gifts of music to be nourished by His Word and Sacraments and to share our stories in light of the Story of salvation.
We continually strive to enlarge our tent so that there is room for the full diversity of God’s people: for those who are sojourning with us for a season or a semester; for those who come from the east and the west, from the north and the south; and for those who come with more questions than answers.
We seek to drive our stakes into the depth of God’s Word and the richness of our Reformed heritage through preaching, prayer, and Christian nurture.
As pilgrims of faith, we desire to travel light, putting our resources into ministries that will equip us and others to serve God wherever He calls.
However, we do not travel the journey of faith alone, for we, together, are the body of Christ: cherishing one another’s company; rejoicing with those who rejoice and mourning with those who mourn; helping one another discern our path – that of following Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life;
and reminding one another of our destination – that one day God will be all in all, righteousness and peace will flourish, and everything will be made new.
